There is no single cause for ADHD. There are a large number of biological or neurological events that singly or in combination can cause ADHD. Since a large number of things can cause ADHD it is defined more by symptoms than by cause.
Recent studies have revealed that certain toxins affect the fetus toxins affect the child after birth, accidents and traumas, brain injury, use of alcohol and tobacco during pregnancy, premature delivery, and low birth weight can cause ADHD.
1) Toxins Affecting the Fetus: exposure to drugs, alcohol, and other chemical substances is widely known to cause serious and long-term problems including ADHD.
2) Toxins Affecting Infants: Children are quite susceptible to lead poisoning. Lead poisoning in children can cause ADHD and learning difficulties. Leading poisoning can be caused by a child chewing on toys or furniture containing lead-based paint. Even breathing dust containing specks of lead-based paint can cause lead poisoning.
3) Genetic Factors: Even if one parent has symptoms of ADHD the offspring is most likely to show similar symptoms too. It can occur in more than one child, and it is carried on from one generation to another.
4) Diet: Children who are on high-calorie, sweet-content food are also likely to show symptoms of ADHD.
ADHD Treatment :
ADHD treatment is a combination of behavior therapy, counseling, remedial classes, parent-child interaction therapy, and medication if necessary. Special education teachers have IEPs, have activities to improve sitting tolerance, and constantly track their activities. The majority of the cases of ADHD can be resolved with the help of Special education.
The school teacher, special education teacher, and parents should work together and coordinate on a child who is having ADHD.
